How does the white tip reef shark hunt for its prey?

The White Tip Sharks only hunt at night time. They come out in loosely organized packs and poke their blunt heads into each crack of the reef in order to get their prey while using their elongated bodies to swim through. Sometimes they go inside the coral reefs through a crack only to come out through a different crack on the other side.

then what do they do at the day time if they only hunt at night?

The White Tip Reef Shark spends most of the day resting inside its cave due to the fact that it doesn’t need to swim to breathe. The shark can pump water over its gills and rest at the bottom of the ocean all day in order to come out to hunt actively at night.
