Hospitals

Use this forum to ask questions and let other tourists know about the essentials of travel to the Maldives. Topics appropriate here are currency, what to take, vaccinations and medicine, safety, laws of the land and anything else that crosses your mind. Can I pay with Euros on the islands? Do I need to take insect repellent, or will they sell it there? Should I take Malaria medicine?

The Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) in Malé which is the biggest hospital in the country and provides sophisticated medical care. Also the ADK Hospital (in Malé) is the biggest private health care facility which also follows high medical standards. Some resorts have in-house doctors that are available 24/7. Also, a decompression chamber is within easy reach of most resorts in case of a diving emergency. So you can see that they have everything well covered in case of an emergency.
