I heard they hide in the sand and if you walk they can sting you. Do the professionals in the dive centers teach you what to do?

Yes they do. If you’re walking in the sandy shallows, try to shuffle along and make some noise; thats the best way to scare them. Anyway you will be with trained professionals all the time that will let you know of everything you need to know.
