I went scuba diving last summer and got a glimpse of a White Tip Reef Shark just right there in front of me. I tell you it was one of the most exhilarating experiences I’ve ever had; I was scared at first but my guide showed me there was nothing to worry about. They are not really that common I guess, but there is always a chance of spotting one.

Actually spotting sharks is quite common in the Maldives if you know where to look; and of course you don't have to know where beacuse your guide will take care of that. Nevertheless there is this dive site called Cocoa Corner which is really famous exactly for that; beacuse it is the best place in the Maldives to spot sharks.

Probably the Ari Atoll has the best islands to spot sharks in all of the Maldives.

What about the Hammerhead shark; which is the best spot to see this type of shark?

Large schools of Hammerhead sharks are usually observed by divers near Rasdhoo and a few other sites like the worldly famous Fotteyo Kandu (one of the best 5 dive sites in the world!) where you can easily spot these amazing creatures at night time, making it a one of the greatest diving experiences in the Maldives.
