How many stars do the hotels in the Maldives tend to have?

Most hotels in the Maldives have the usual standard and comfort of a five star hotel; which is the luxury that such a place deserves of course. In fact the government has created a law that all new island resorts must be 5-star establishments! That sort of tells you something right there

Have you guys tried Liveaboard cruise ships instead of resorts? there are a whole different experience; and you get to see way more of the Maldives!
