I was wondering if the Maldives are just too hot a place, since it is the tropic.

Humidity in the Maldives is not a big issue, it doesn’t get too hot. Not because the place is not warm enough; it is, but because there are no big buildings or excess of concrete, at least not in every atoll with the exception of the capital Male. When you are on the islands or on a boat (which is basically most, if not all, of the time) and you feel the constant daily breeze it is actually quite refreshing.
